Cairnhill Structures | Company Profile

Cairnhill Structures is a family business that combines traditional values of customer loyalty, quality and service, with the performance, standards and investment policies of major commercial organisations.

The company operates from the Sun Works in Coatbridge, a former steel works, which provides 20,000 square feet to house high precision steel sawing, drilling and fabrication lines. Operating under a single roof with sister companies providing specialised engineering fabrication and blacksmith services enables Cairnhill Structures to offer quick turn around, high precision outputs, and a 'single source' service to major contractors.

Cairnhill's highly skilled and experienced 50-strong workforce includes, platers, welders, fabricators, steel erectors and three specialised teams of site operatives. The Drawing Office and design team produce conventional and computerised drawings using the Xsteel and Strucad systems.

Cairnhill works with an extensive range of major construction and civil engineering companies, including Laing O'Rourke, Miller Construction, Raynesway, Doosan Babcock, Expanded Structures and the Dunne Group.

Cairnhill has created some of the most significant steel structures in Scotland including the pergola at the Scottish Parliament, the Forth Bridge Toll Canopy, and the HQ of East Renfrewshire Council in Paisley.

Cairnhill has enjoyed around 75% repeat business since Bobby Watson and David Towers launched it in 1990, a testament to the company's standards and reliability. Bobby Watson is a former Rangers player and David Towers is Chairman of the Airdrie Savings Bank. The company is now in its second generation with Neil Watson and Fraser Towers continuing the commitment to service and quality.

The company also maintains strong links with the British Construction Steel Association which helps it focus on new procedures and methods of steel design fabrication and erection.

Cairnhill's Managing Director Jack Sanderson is the incoming National President of the BCSA and is also Chairman of the Scottish Region of the BCSA.
